THANK YOU, Thank you Vur-ry Much!

Folks, ever since Oshkosh, my heart has been filled with gratitude.

Gratitude for the beautiful blessing of aviation in our lives, in whatever form, and the fact that its magic has brought us together, not only in Oshkosh itself, but from around the world to this blog.

Destiny delivers her goodies to the Flight Deck!

One special Thank You I’d like to start with is to a lovely little 8-year-old passenger named Destiny, who recently rode with her mom on our flight.

goodie bags

Yippee! Treats!!

During boarding, our First Flight Attendant walked up front, beaming from ear to ear. In her hands were little, meticulously gift wrapped presents, filled with goodies.

Each gift had its own card. And not just a handwritten note, but a poem that Destiny had penned—individually, for each one of our 6-person crew!

Completely charmed by our darling passenger, after the flight, I gave Destiny signed copies of two of my books, along with the flight release.

Needless to say, I think Destiny learned the lesson of Paying it Forward!

Gang, if you want to get on the good side of your crew, take a tip from Destiny! It’s such a rare, heartfelt little gesture, and it can’t help but charm. And, especially after a long, hard day, such a gesture serves to reset our Happy Meters to Pegged!

DESTINY, THIS POST IS DEDICATED TO YOU!

In keeping with the mood, here’s one last video I made as we slinked away from Oshkosh, trying to keep the tears from falling as we left that magical land, which for one entire week was the Happiest Place on Earth!

Harry cockpit  Of course, no experience is ever “perfect,” and one huge disappointment was the conspicuous absence of Janet, the world’s last and only flying Fairey Gannet, and one of the hit stars of last year’s Oshkosh show.

Apparently, confusion over an arrival time slot at the world’s largest air show kept the plane grounded and “waiting in the wings” all week.

While we appreciate the enormous logistics required to coordinate the world’s largest fly-in, we can only hope that EAA will be able to give Janet the worthy “air time” she deserves at #OSH16.

In the meantime, Janet’s owner Shannan and pilot Harry plan to make it up to fans with some surprise appearances coming up in the next year, including the following:

Jay-Leno

The Wings of Steel Foundation and Janet will be supporting the Gillette children’s hospital by attending a very special charity evening dinner on the

26th of September at St Paul Airport, MN

Janet and other aircraft will be available and in view during the dinner, and none other than Jay Leno will be performing!

Bunny and I will also be there, so I hope you can make it!!
