#CoronaVirus Grounding!
As of this writing, the airlines, the country—indeed, the world—is basically grounded in lockdown.
Many have lost their jobs…
Some have lost loved ones to the horrific #Coronavirus.
“What did you do during the great #Coronavirus Grounding, Daddy?” I can imagine future kids asking their parents. Well, I thought I’d come out with a little blog post to try and lift those grounded spirits out there a tad.
As for Bunny n me, we are spending our self-imposed (and Arizona-imposed) quarantine at home at Chez Aux, in Phoenix.
Both of us have taken a several-month voluntary leave from work, as the airline dramatically downsizes in reaction to the #Coronavirus Grounding pandemic.
Before I did, however, I still managed to fly a bit in late March and early April. Many, if not most, of my flights had been canceled or rerouted, in reaction to the downsizing. Everywhere we flew, however, we found planes grounded and parked wherever there was empty tarmac space in every airport.
A sickening sight.
#CoronaVirus Grounding Downtime
So, the question becomes, What to do with oneself while grounded? Well, Bunny and I cannot stay still for very long, and both have several projects in mind.
As for me, I plan to dust off the banjo and guitar and get reacquainted with them, as well as catch up on some writing, including for Airways Magazine.
See my article in the “Ask the Pilot” section, where I tackle the tricky question, “In these ‘viral’ times, is this a good time to become a Pilot?”
Look for it in the March/April edition!
After snagging First Place—again!—in her first post-cancer regional amateur bodybuilding competition, Bunny is once again qualified for the nationals.
Joining a new team—Team Elite Physique, under Coach Adam Bonilla—she is now spending her days pounding the barbells in our little home gym, aiming to snag the coveted Pro card in July!
Notice To Airmen—Warning!#Coronavirus Grounding Bombshell Alert!!!
Bunny and I are also enjoying a “staycation honeymoon”, after getting married in February!
Luckily, we slipped in our nuptials just before the whole #Coronavirus Grounding shut down all public gatherings!
Bunny had her gorgeous gown handmade by one of the best designers in the Philippines, and I wore my Scottish family kilt (“Clan Kincade”) for the gala celebration!
She surprised me with fireworks, and I surprised her by saying my vows in Filipino Tagalog!
In lieu of gifts, guests donated to one of three cancer charities. We are also donating all of the cash received to charities supporting frontline #Coronavirus first responders around the world!

A Huge Thank You to all you wonderful Blog Buddies for your Best Wishes and Donations!
If you’d like to join us in support, please consider donating to one of these wonderful charities!
#Coronavirus Grounding—More to do!
For me, one final project I have in mind is something I’ve long desired to do. That is, narrate all 4 Missions of my Code Name: Dodger Fly/Spy adventure series onto audiobook!
Speaking of plenty of time on your hands, don’t forget that all my books are already available in print and ebook (see link below.)
My other 5 aviation books are already available on audiobook as well!

#Coronavirus Grounding—We Will Survive!
Even through all the madness and mayhem, rest assured airlines are adjusting, and will “adapt and overcome.” To wit, here’s a video of a Philippine Airlines “rescue flight,” snagging stranded passengers and crew, and showing us a glimpse of what will perhaps become the “new norm” for air travel. Yes, we will survive and, eventually, thrive once again!
#Coronavirus Grounding Fun!
Lest we go “bat crazy” doing what we’re doing (or not doing), we all gotta dig deep and find some humor in all this. To wit, a few funny memes I’ve come across lately that I thought I’d share with you…
And Finally,
For you desperate “chairborne” grounded types, here’s a flight of fancy even you can take, from the comfort of your own…eh, “First Class Window Seat!”
Folks, I hope this blog post has given you a brief respite from the #Coronavirus grounding onslaught, and lifted your spirits off the runway to a decent flight level.
Bunny and I hope and pray for happiness, health and prosperity for you and your family and loved ones in the face of this pandemic!
This post is dedicated to all the heroic front liners and first responders, from medical personnel to police and fire, from pilots and flight attendants and truck drivers, to post office and grocery workers!
Until the next blog post,
This is Cap’n Aux . . .
