What does it take to become a pilot?
Well, whaddya askin’ me for?!
LOL, kidding aside, I’m gonna take a back seat on this flight, and let one of YOU, a fellow Blog Buddy, answer this question!
In fact, not only does our special guest, high school student Pratyush K., thoroughly answer this question, I daresay his exemplary documentary is quite inspirational to the aviator-wannabes out there!
What’s more, for his school project, he even interviewed Yours Truly!

Pratyush recently contacted me for the interview.
Over Zoom, he was able to ask me some very astute questions regarding the piloting career, and how one becomes a pilot. I was very impressed by this young man’s professionalism, insight, and deep questions.
While Pratyush may or may not pursue a career in the flying field, I daresay he at least has two qualities that will greatly help if he does: perseverance and drive!
Indeed, at his age, young Pratyush reminds me of…me!

An "International Pilots' Union" Meeting!
‘Tis the season for flying my favorite route, PHX-LHR.
During one of my LHR layovers, fellow Blog Buddy, Cap’n Raph, joined up with me!
You may remember Cap’n Raph as an A321 Captain for a European carrier. I wrote several posts about his adventures, including his epic ‘Round the World flight in the Breightling DC-3!
Well, now he is flying the A350!
He was in town for simulator training, so we were able to join up. A few of his fellow pilot buddies joined us, as well as my two FOs.
So, we had an “international pilots’ union” meeting!
We hit one of my favorite places, the Mercado. It’s an old cathedral converted into a 3-story, high class food court!
The Days of Wine and Hacking
Last week, I had a wonderful weekend with my youngest son, Kyle, and his aunt and uncle.
In Northern California we did a wine tasting tour, along with several rounds of hacking—er, I mean, Golfing!
A good time was had by all!
